WONDER BOX

A range of open-ended natural science and cultural objects will invite students on a journey of limitless discovery through imagining stories, investigating materials, and connecting new with unfamiliar items.

WONDER BOX CASE #1

This case contains a hand-cranked music box; a kente fan; a wooden Ere Ibeji figure from Yorubaland; several geological specimens including a cut agate block, a geode, and a large amethyst; an abalone shell and a Murex brassica shell.

WONDER BOX CASE #2

This case contains a carved wooden egg-shaped container; a throwing club from Fiji; an abalone shell; two geological samples; a kente cloth fan; a Bedouin anklet known as a khalakhil; a carved wooden gnome figure; and a carved wooden Kuba cup in the shape of a human figure.

This case contains a wooden headrest from the Tsonga people; an abalone shell; two geological specimens; a silver bracelet from Yemen; a kente cloth fan; a carved gourd rattle from Botswana; a shell covered with barnacles; and a staff from Angola known as an ombweti.
